A brief description of our services

APPLICATION MODERNIZATION FOR IBM I

VGSoft implements modernization projects for legacy applications on IBM i, written in RPG or COBOL (both OPM and ILE) with the help of the Webgate400 Modernization Suite. The experiences gained over the years and the modernized applications are different, as are the different projects.

Some of the key points on which these projects are based:

  • Project Preparation
    • Recognition and preparing documentation of the technological legacy of the application
    • Preparation of the prototype project to quantify and understand the standard graphics/enhancements to apply
    • Project team definition: skills and responsibilities of each member of the project team
    • Project handbook definition: "who does what": definition of the rules and tools of governance and communication that must be used during the entire duration of the project
    • Definition in the "Converter Control" of webgate400 (Conversion Projects based on the application modules to be modernized)
    • "Mass” conversion for first level tests by key users: Detection of any technical problems on the conversion phase
    • Definition of standard graphic elements to be applied
    • Quantitative determination of formats to be modernized. The survey must distinguish several modernization methods.
    • Basic type of architecture determination: menus/information systems/languages etc.
    • Definition of the modules and respective release times
    • Approval of the drafted Project document and preparation of Milestones Phase
  • Development and Testing 
    • Webgate400 training for technical staff involved in the project (for conversion processes).
    • Feasibility study for the realization of mass conversion tool
    • "Mass" conversion: Corrective actions on anomalous mass conversion situations that require the correction of programs.
    • Manual integration of graphic components (depending on the type of Modernization).
    • Architecture configuration and implementation of any configurations/integration modules between architectures

Partner Program

VGSoft is looking for partners or resellers oriented to the AS/400 - IBM i platform.

WEBGATE400/Power-b

Who are the partners we are looking for Webgate400 / Power-b:

  • Software House / Consultants who have proprietary software solutions (RPG/COBOL and "green screen") and who want (or are forced by the market) to modernize them. The task of VGSoft in this case is to bring these realities to Webgate400 suites and return competitive even with the Open World.
  • Software House, System Integrator or Consultants who do not have proprietary software solutions but who work directly with customers (e.g. on a project/order, on third party software or owned by the customers themselves) and who see in Webgate400 the possibility of satisfying more customer expectations and, at the same time, to create more work

G&A

VGSoft seeks partnerships with Software Houses or Consultants who have a management solution (general or vertical, proprietary or of third parties) but but do not have a proprietary accounting module (or, even if they are controlled by third parties). They are therefore realities that for the accounting part over time have also adopted very popular products(r)and today, also to protect the customer from intrusions by large software producers, they need an equally valid (or in some respects even more valid) accounting product that guarantees it to focus on its management solution (and in relations with the customer) without the risk of external interference.

These partners can basically be classified into two main categories:

  • Partner who does not have the expertise to directly assist accounting clients and does not want to (or cannot) create it: VGSoft in addition to the accounting product G&A also offers all-round advice in the accounting field and proves to be a non-invasive but qualified partner with over twenty years of experience in the field. The Partner continues to be the main actor with its customers. VGSoft can supply directly to the customers followed by the Partner:
    • the G&A Finance product
    • migration of data from the previous application (personal data, accounting movements, VAT, bills portfolio, payments, etc.)
    • user training
    • first and second level assistance (through its Help-Desk and with the direct relationship with the project managers)
    • technical-regulatory assistance
    • changes (customizations) based on the customer's needs.
    • all implementations for regulatory changes that affect the software Finance G&A
  • Partners who instead have the expertise to directly assist accountants customers and want to be the sole provider in customer management and accounting.
    VGSoft will have direct relationships with the customers followed by the Partner (if not at the express request of the Partner himself).
    VGSoft will provide the partners:
    • the G&A license product, both for internal use and for distribution
    • training the staff of the partner who will carry out the assistance
    • second level assistance and, if needed, also third level assistance directly to the customer.

VGSoft and the Partner will create all the interfaces necessary to standardize the accounting procedure with the management procedure (angraphic, tables, accounts, etc.) as much as possible.
